Westhaven Discovers New Zone at its Shovelnose Gold Property; Drills 50.4 m of 0.2 g/t Gold

Vancouver, B.C. - December 8th, 2015 - Westhaven Ventures Inc. (TSX-V:WHN) reports drill results from its 18,412 hectare Shovelnose gold property, located within the prospective Spences Bridge Gold Belt (SBGB), approximately 30 km south of Merritt, British Columbia. The drill program consisted of 5 holes, totaling 1,408 metres of diamond drilling.

Westhaven has discovered a new zone of mineralization defined by geophysics (induced polarization) and diamond drilling. Drill hole SN15-01 tested the newly discovered Alpine Zone, a previously untested 800 metre long combined IP chargeability and resistivity anomaly, located 400 metres to the east of the Tower Zone. SN15-01 intersected quartz veining and gold mineralization similar to that encountered at the Tower Zone. An interval of 50.4 metres (m) graded 0.2 g/t gold (Au) including narrow intervals grading up to 0.9 g/t Au. The Alpine Zone remains open in all directions.

SN15-04, extending southeast from the Tower Zone, intersected two zones containing 10.5m grading 0.16 g/t Au and 5.7 g/t silver (Ag) and 9.5m grading 0.15 g/t Au and 1.3 g/t Ag. SN15-05 intersected a 75m zone of highly silicified and pyritic volcanic tuffs hosting quartz veins and stockworks containing 54.7m grading 0.11 g/t Au and 6.5 g/t Ag, including; 8.2m grading 0.3 g/t Au and 24.7 g/t Ag. Low temperature alteration, including chalcedonic quartz veining, kaolinite clay alteration and elevated mercury and molybdenum (associated with gold and silver mineralization) encountered in the Tower Zone suggests that there is potential for higher grade gold and silver at depth. Drill holes SN15-02 and SN15-03 did not intersect any significant gold mineralization.

Gren Thomas, Westhaven's President & CEO, stated, “This drill program was successful in expanding the area of known gold-silver mineralization. Although lower grade, mineralization continues to be extended at least 2.5 kilometres long east-west and is open in all directions. Based on visual examination and assays from drill hole SN15-05, the first deep hole to target the Tower Creek Fault Zone, we believe we are still high in the system and that there is potential for bonanza grade zones at depth as we have seen in surface float samples grading 119 g/t gold and 273 g/t silver." Thomas goes on to add, “We are confident we are narrowing in on higher grade as is seen at Westhaven's Prospect Valley property 30km to the northwest. The next phase of exploration will focus on drilling deeper.”

Upcoming Plans

Plans are to drill deeper in both the Tower Zone and the newly discovered Alpine Zone to target the boiling zone, a narrower vertical interval of higher grading gold and silver that is generally about 300 to 600 meters thick. To date drilling has only gone to 180 metres vertically.

Shovelnose Gold Property Overview

To date, 31 diamond drill holes have been drilled for a cumulative total of 4,498 metres, in four separate target areas. There is evidence of a significant mineralized alteration system within the property where float samples grading 119 g/t Au (Gold) and 273 g/t Ag (Silver), veins in trenching grading 66 g/t Au and wide low grade alteration zones typical of epithermal gold deposits have been discovered. The 18,412 ha Shovelnose gold property is a gold-silver epithermal-style exploration target that covers prospective stratigraphy in the southern Spences Bridge Gold Belt (SBGB), a 110 km northwest-trending belt of intermediate to felsic volcanic rocks of the Cretaceous Spences Bridge Group.
