Vancouver, B.C. - November 6, 2014 - Westhaven Ventures Inc. (TSX-V:WHN) reports it has completed drilling on its 15,322 ha Ben property, located approximately 50 kilometres north of Williams Lake, B.C.
Drilling consisted of nine drill holes (~928m) testing four target areas in the Skelton Zone, Southern Lobe, Ring Zone and Northern Lobe. All drill holes intersected highly serpentinized ultramafic rocks. Most notably, drill hole BN14-19 encountered approximately 150 metres of serpentine, similar to rocks hosting nickel-cobalt mineralization encountered in previous drilling, at bedrock surface (33m) to a depth of 186m. Drill hole BN14-23 encountered over 100 metres of similar serpentine and remained in it at 148m where the hole was terminated due to poor drilling conditions. These two holes are in separate target areas known as the Southern Lobe and Northern Lobe located 2.8 kilometres apart. These two lobes are magnetic anomalies measuring 2 kilometres and 3 kilometres in length respectively, and appear to be sub-horizontal or shallowly-dipping. Both zones are located over 6 kilometres from the Skelton Zone.
Management believes this is a large system which is outlined well by the airborne magnetic survey. Numerous anomalous targets remain to be explored, with the objective of locating additional higher grade nickeliferous deposits as seen in the Skelton Zone, and higher tonnage-lower grade bodies as seen in the Southern and Northern lobes. Nickel mineralization on the Ben is contained within extensive serpentine bodies and occurs mainly as the high grade nickel sulphides pentlandite, millerite and bravoite. Management awaits assays results and preparation has begun for the next phase of work on Ben.
Four holes followed up drill hole BN-13-03 (Skelton Zone) which intersected 70 metres of 0.31% nickel and 0.012% cobalt (see news release from March 14, 2014), and targeted related ground geophysical anomalies from the recently completed survey. Five holes tested several airborne and ground magnetic anomalies discovered in surveys completed earlier in 2014.
